History of the DJCC

History & about the US & international Junior Chamber History of Dallas Chapter

Our rich history gives our organization a unique place in the Dallas Community…

Founded in 1918, The Dallas Chamber of Commerce is the second oldest Junior Chamber Chapter in the world. Not only are we part of a powerful state, national, and international network, but we are some of the first pioneers who helped create that network.

About the Junior Chamber

Since 1916, the Junior Chamber has been a force for good in America and around the world. The Junior Chamber helped establish airmail services in America with member Charles Lindbergh, and has raised millions of dollars for causes such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the March of Dimes. They have built parks, playgrounds, hospitals, ball fields, and housing for the elderly while conducting service and support programs in thousands of communities nationwide.

Junior Chamber members can be found in all walks of life: governmental leaders such as former President Bill Clinton and former President Gerald Ford, business tycoons such as Domino’s Pizza mogul Tom Monaghan, registered nurse and former Miss America Kaye Lani Rae Rafko-Wilson, Sports heroes like basketball great Larry Bird. You can name the field and Junior Chamber members can be found at the forefront.

With the focus of the nation on bettering the community, from the smallest towns to the largest cities, the Junior Chamber is enlarging areas of opportunity for young people.
